CAA International EALTS candidature

Pilots and air traffic controllers

The CAAi EALTS is a testing system suitable for the assessment of the language proficiency of both air traffic controllers and pilots. The range of EALTS test items and tasks and their lack of cultural specificity mean that the test is sufficiently adaptable in its delivery to be appropriate internationally to the professional or recreational aviation environment of the various candidate populations (pilot categories - fixed wing or rotary wing, light or heavy aircraft; air traffic controllers - ground & tower, approach or area). 1

Although a test of language and not a test of procedure per se, the CAAi EALTS is not recommended for ab-initio aviation profession trainees or candidates unfamiliar with commercial or general aviation.

It is the responsibility of candidates to inform the test centre of their area of aviation-related activity and of the test they require at the point of enrolment to ensure an appropriate version of the EALTS is scheduled and provided.
